Thanks mate , it wasnt allways like that ... almost 10 years of my own work in fact the only thing i havent overhauled , modified or replaced is the diff , seats , external paint & some door / window seals ..will try and put some more pics up of bits such as three on the tree still but cable instead of those clunky linkages , rear rack , front end off to be rebuilt and rust proofed etc etc

Cheers

I was really lucky with the rust or lack of it every where ive touched ... here are a couple of the firewall.

The order got mixed up so bottom is original and top is finished.

Hey Rob, the car looks great in that side on shot with the wheels. What stage are you at with it? What's left to do?

Cheers,

John

Thanks John ... well firstly i dont think i will ever finish the old girl to where i can say yep not going to touch a another thing ... but what is on my definate list is ;

Replace the gearbox ( trimatic ) as it tired , so i purchased a box from a gent in Melbourne who is currently building the Cocoa Cola freedom van from the 70s , he had the box rebuilt a few thousand ks b4 i purchased as he is now fitting an overdrive box.

Pull the rear end out and rebuild and clean up as its the only mechanicals ive not touched .. maybe change diff but not sure on that as i may have sourced another tri with an overdrive unit on it.

Put carpet in it and maybe recover the seats back to leather.

Replace door and window seals , done all the other seals and grommets as i gone along.

Refinish or replace badges as they are oringinal and show there 50+ years ... although some times i got say they look a hell of a lot better than my 50+ years.

Pull it all apart and respray ... the paint is okay maybe 7 out of 10 but over the years someone has putty a dodgy mist coast ? over it or maybe im just to fussy.

Just spent a fortune restoring an original radio and that was with me doing the majority of the work .... jeez i remember as a kid we used to throw em out and bung in a shiny Clarion tape deck now they want silly money for them even broke !!!

On top of that i had my tripple SU woes ... oh my god never again will i not tripple check anything new that i buy.

I think is probably about it ... sadly i didnt take a lot of pics of my going ons .. as i think some would be found interesting ... parriculary my steering columb ... any body that sias you cannot make a collapsible columb with cable and the reverse switch etc all on the passenger side of the firewall has not tried hard enough.

I keep her on full rego for various reasons and dont have buckets of cash or resouces so ... one day i may get her finished but till then i just enjoy her .... a lot like my wife ... oh that training is just never ending ... oops did i say that.
Got a few pics of various things ive done , most are no where near the callibre or skill of some ive seen on here but i will try post some.

Cheers all

Way back when i first got Daisy i had plans of putting V6 Super charged donk in her but didnt want to do it for a while , in the meantime i changed the front cross member to Disk and rear rack n pinion. At the same time i had two sets of engine mounts fitted ... one to put the red 6 back in and get on the road and one pair to suit V6 conversion.

Later i decided to stay with a red 6 and had the 179 bored for 192 along with a whole lot of other engine related stuff .... so off come the cross member and off came the V6 mounts.
