EH Resto - First Post

by NSWEH225M » Thu Jan 29, 2015 1:11 pm

Hi all, first post.

I bought my EH back in November 2014, it's a pretty honest, original car with some challenges.
Since buying the car I’ve gutted it completely, ground out all the bog and unpicked panels wherever I found rust. The plenum was pretty rotted, I unpicked 2 levels of the plenum and will probably unpick the lower level to make it easier to repair. There’s rust in all the usual locations plus a few more I think, a bit disappointing at first but now that I’ve started on the repairs I'm feeling a bit more positive about the project. Currently the body shell is sitting on a rotisserie being sandblasted, the rust repairs will begin as soon as I get it back.

That is a lot of rust. I hope mine is not as bad when I start to do it. Keep the photos coming.

Welcome to the rust club! Well what does one expect in a 50 year old car anyway
Keep the story and pictures coming, my project is also posted on the forum. At the moment im spending about 20 to 25 hours a week on the project and its all cutting welding and grinding with repairs sections or fabication.

I picked up the body shell from the sand blasters yesterday. Since being sand blasted the car has only a couple of additional rust holes that I hadn't found. Overall I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.

I've also now unpicked the lower plenum, I thought it would be easier to repair this part off the car, rather than in situ.
