No experience with your issue, but I've had a look at the wiring diagram and can see that the neutral safety switch also operates as a backup lamp switch.
So, when working, it does two things:
1. Only allows starting in Park.
2. Turns on both rear indicators when in reverse

Here's the wiring diagram:

The neutral safety switch at the bottom has 4 terminals. From what I can see, when in Park, the 2 left terminals short to each other, allowing 12V to get to the starter solenoid. When in Reverse, the 2 right hand terminals short, connecting 12V from the fusebox (orange wire) up to the turn-signal switch (white wire).

I've highlighted the flow in black for your rear indicator lights here:

So, I'd say your left 2 terminals are permanently shorted, as are your right 2 terminals. Either it's knackered, or needs adjusting in relation to the gearshift linkages.
Regarding backup/stop lamp failure, perhaps a fuse ?
Rgds.

Cheers mate also found the finger that slides the safety switch to have had been bent due to force when changing gear with out depressing gear shift so not allowing switch to move may have to tackle a column change thanks for your input mate appreciate it ;)
