EH Diff with HZ Drum Brakes

by Lion64 » Thu Jun 12, 2014 11:49 pm

Hi Guys, can anyone advise me if I can replace the EH rear Drum Brakes with HZ? I know the stud pattern is different so can get them altered to suit Chevy/HZ pattern and I also know the HZ backing plate mounting holes are the same. What I do not know is if the EH axles need to be shortened since the HZ backing plate has an offset of 7mm each side so not sure if the HZ drums will compensate for this. Has anyone done this change before? The benefit is larger diameter brakes and a good balance as will use HZ disc brakes on front with a Gemini booster.

Not sure on the axles but you will have to review your master cylinder, I done a conversion on another vehicle and made little spacer plates the same as the shape of the area were the backing plate bolts to the diff housing and stepped the backing plates out that way.
