My Peach

by Carpet56 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 7:30 pm

Just thought i would show a few pictures of my eh when i found it in a barn nearly 2 years ago and also some after i started taking it apart. All original with 179 and hydramatic, covered in oil and grease at no extra charge. The only rust is at the bottom of the driver's side radiator support which goes through to the inside of the guard. It was covered up in the guard with a piece of jam tin, ingenuity i say but that's how it was back in the day. I don't know what happened to the pics but the bottom is the beginning if you get my drift, bloody technology.
Cheers Glenn

All i intend to do is restore back to original. I had to get another carby as somewhere along the line it had a smaller stromberg on it. Found a good one at the toowoomba swap meet a few months back for 20 bucks which i thought was good as well as another 2 tail light assemblies with real good lenses complete for 40 bucks. A good mornings work. Motor has been bored to 186 which nearly killed me because i wanted to stay 179 but i couldn't get any o/size 179 pistons except for ones to be made in sth australia for an arm and a leg and as it still has hp on the block so who is going to know except me and you guys. I got the transmission done in toowoomba which cost a bit but it is the original hydramatic. The flex plate and input shaft was sent to the blue mts in nsw for refurbishing and came back as new. Motor and tranny now back in and hopefully the car goes to the panel shop next week for the paint job. Then the interior gets done and some seatbelts put in and then i should be right to get it registered. I think i will have full rego for the first 6 months then club rego. This should allow me to run it in. I hope to have it all done by xmas but we shall see. From what i know from the chassis number it is a real early car and was assembled in brisbane but had its life in the bush as there was red dust everywhere hence no rust. I am pretty sure it is a 1963 car due to the low chassis number and also they didn't make that colour in 1964 from all i have read. Will post more pics as the journey continues.

Another photo this time of the motor and tranny trial fitted. Passenger side engine mount didnt look right(pushed forward) so replaced behind engine bracket and seems ok now. I have seen quite a few with one mount in front of bracket and the other behind. Waiting on rebuilt radiator now.

I see you are using a generator, not wanting to update too much? Don't know if you want to go to all the trouble but I have a new (not reman) VH44 booster (4 wheel drum brake type, not original to EH, but as fitted to HD/HR)I no longer need. Looking to sell if you are interested. It is not one of the cheap Chinese knock offs. Let me know.

Yes sir i would be interested in that. I was thinking of going down that route as i know the original drums were not that fantastic. If you pm me with your number i will call you back.
