Rays Sedan

by Ray » Sun Jan 06, 2008 10:26 am

this car was brought by my dad in 1987 or something like that, rego ran out in 88' so he just kinda drove it into the shed, and parked it there, thats where it stayed until we got the new shed about 3yr ago. pulled it out of the old shed, straight into the new one where the work started. because it was in a shed for the past 20odd years, there was virtually no rust, just a little surface.

this is what it looked like when it was taken out of the old shed and into the new.

and thats the body to far....all done by ourselves ..me and dad that is... im 17 now. and really just started off watching the car shows on fox, watching them, asking everybody and anybody for tips, taking advice here and there, putting it all together and thats what we have.

The best thing that happened to us was that we just went for a drive one Saturday arvo, as you do.... got 2 blocks from home, i seen a frontend sitting on the side of the road.. swerved off to have a look.. GREAT! a HR front end... the guy comes out the front and says to me, "hr front end mate" i say yeah i know... how much you want for it, he said $200... i said ill take it, be back in 5 min to get it...

what an awesome buy.... even better, it came with the booster...L34 torana pbr brakes... and the upper and lower bushes had just been done!...

this is after we striped it back cleaned it up and painted it...

haha, too long. beena slow one. about 3 years, on and off, we got the space so its no problem... but really getting stuckinto the paint this summer while its hot....

anyway, doing them over a long period of time, the money factor dosn't hit you as much... you don't seem to be breakin the bank, as its bit by bit..

with all this rain around makes it hard.. should clear up by the end of the week, and we can get cracking..

ummm, pretty standard to get it resisted, after she's passes rego i wanna put a 5 speed in, either celica or supra. we got a heavily worked 186 thats goin in after rego. original banjo diff, might change it later, but probable only if we snap an axle or something.

but to get registered, using a 202, and the 3 speed crash. also got the HR front end, witch you can see.

I live at Kurri Kurri, and im hope to get it up to the Kurri Kurri Nostalgia Festival, at the end of march. so yeah, if all gos well, should be done by march...

Looking good
But if you are going t the troubles of putting a 202 in it for rego why dont you put the 186 and 5 speed straight in? less money spent on getting the inspectors to look over the box conversion. front end and box in one.

well, we are going for an easy rego, so we get it straight through then once its registered, we can play around with that stuff, at the moment we just want to get it registered as fast as we can and with as little hassle as possible.

bring it home, slowly do the little things when the time and money are there. stereo system, retrim, little bits and pieces.
